Advice...

Miles has a horrible diaper rash - pretty much his first diaper rash ever. Every time I change his diaper he screams so hard and it is so sad! Poor baby. He is seriously missing a layer of skin on his little behind. I've been using Boudreaux's Butt Paste but it isn't doing the trick - anyone know any great creams that work wonders?? Oh, and it'd be great if it was something that worked immediately since we are flying home from Denver tomorrow and I am not looking forward to a day of traveling with a little boy who has a sore bottom!
Not fun {for either of us}.

Diaper rash is the worst! When Riley gets diarrhea it eats right through his skin until he bleeds. So sad. We use two things. The first is Dermoplast for pain relief. It instantly soothes his poor little bum and is great because it's a spray on. Afterwards, we'll slather on maximum strength Desitin. I like it better in the big tub rather than the tube because then I can use one hand to hold his flailing legs and the other to apply the cream.
Good luck! It's not fun.

My kids have always suffered from diaper rash. I use straight old cornstarch. Let them air dry for a minute. Put it in a shaker and sprinkle it right on their bums. Works wonders and clears up the rash really quick for my kids no pastes needed!

I use Triple Paste Medicated Ointment. I just get it at WalMart and it works right away. I love it! Poor Miles. Goog luck on the flight home.

I have always used the breast cream that you get when you nurse. The kind in the purple tube. I think it is called Lansinoh. Something like that. It has always worked very well, and since we live in the south their little bums get to hot and this always clears it up and keeps a layer on it that helps everything stay off their bums the rest of the day.

Hey Lexie,
I had the same problem with Hunter when he was about Miles age. I tried everything to get rid of it. But the thing that worked the best was cornstarch. I was amazed. My mother-in-law was the one who told me about it. Hope you can find some relief for him. Its so sad when they are in pain.

Lexie,
I'm sorry to hear... I hate diaper rash, last time Salla had some, it made me cry to see her in so much pain. I asked my pediatrician about it and she said once the skin is burned, not to use any cremes that have zinc in them, it will just make the burn worse. She recommended Aquiphor, I think that's how you spell it. It worked great on Salla.... now I put the Butt Paste on only when her bum is just a little red, not if it's already super bad. I hope you guys are doing well other wise!

Maybe after the cornstarch you can apply good ol' vaseline. I love that stuff and it has worked everytime for my kids. It is cleared up by morning. Good luck and I hope it is better soon.

Not sure if you still have a problem, but Neosporin is awesome! or the generic brand. really doesn't matter. Its the only thing I use, because nothing else seemed to work very well so I threw it all away and only used the neosporin. I think someone else said triple medicated ointment, same thing just generic brand.

I feel like a rookie, but we just used the super strength desitin ointment (not the cream, not generic). lather it on as thick as you can stand. poor baby! hope he's feeling better soon!

This is late but here you go if you need it in the future. I also loved Lansinoh. And A&D ointment - not the creme. However, with Knightley's we just stopped using the wipes. The stuff in the mixture aggravated her rash. Once we did that - all was well. Oh, and blowing on her tush a little at each change to dry things out. Probably a benefit to the cornstarch crew - it does the same thing. Good luck! Hope he's feeling better by now and you're enjoying time with your family!
