Happy Anniversary!
Not many people can say they started off their 6th anniversary hanging out in an airport for 5 hours with 3 kids! I am happy to say our traveling went relatively well and we are now back in our home! The kids were excellent on both of our flights and Nora and Miles both fell asleep on the second one, which was a blessing - the lady that sat behind us wasn't thrilled about it. When we were boarding she took one look at us and said, "Well I hope this isn't going to be a problem!" Afterwards she told me what sweet babies I had. Sophie held out until about 5:45 am (Michigan time) before she finally crashed! It is nice to have the traveling over and be in our own beds again. But we already miss everyone we left!
I can't believe Brian and I have been married for 6 years now. It has been the best 6 years of my life and I love him more now than ever. He is always good to me and an incredible father to our children. I think he is an incredible person and I am so lucky to have him as a husband!!

Leaving on a jet plane
We will be home in less than 24 hours! It has been a wonderful vacation but we are looking forward to being back home. Our flight leaves today at 5:00 and we will get to the airport around 1:45 am.... Should be exciting! I think the kids will do okay on the flight. We've got a couple new movies and a dvd player - and an extra pair of clothes :) The worrisome part is that we will be hanging out in the airport from 1:45 am until our bus comes at 6:15 am! Yikes. We had already bought our plane tickets before we checked times on the shuttle bus. We will get home around 8:30 tomorrow morning (which is also Brian and I's anniversary). But don't expect to see us at church on Sunday...... hopefully we will be sleeping!

What are the chances?
We finally talked to someone from Amtrak who told us if we board our train in Utah on the 29th we would be taking it to Denver and then would have to take a 7 hour bus ride to Omaha and then another train to Chicago, and another to Michigan. That sounds fun with 3 kids! The train was going to be a long ride anyway, but a bus ride is much different than a train! So we are now exploring all other possible options to get us home no later than Tuesday (Brian has a class on Wednesday). So if you see any screaming deals on flights - let us know :) Now we get to break the news to Sophie that we won't be taking a train....

funny things...
FYI: from now on I will be posting all the hilarious things my kids do and say that make me laugh on my other blog. I lost them from the side bar last time I changed my background so I thought I'd find a better way to have them around forever. Read them here. Or not. I promise I won't be offended.

We made it!
We made it to Idaho on Friday! We took the Michigan Flyer to the Detroit Airport early Friday morning (really early - we boarded at 3 am!) The kids did great on the bus - although they didn't fall back to sleep like I was hoping they would! Our flight left on time at 7:15 and about 5 minutes into the flight Sophie spilled orange juice all over her lap. And I daresay having wet clothing is Sophie's number one pet peeve. So she cried about it the entire first flight (about an hour and 10 minutes) Lucky for me the seats are 3 across so Brian was sitting with the girls while Miles and I dozed behind them - poor Brian. We had a 15 minute layover in St. Louis so I dashed the girls to the bathroom before we got on our next flight. In the bathroom Sophie absolutely REFUSED to put her wet clothes back on. So she was sitting on the bathroom floor in just her shirt crying and kicking her feet while I was pleading with her to put her clothes on so we didn't miss our flight. I knew there was no way I was going to get her to put on her wet clothes, so it was either I wrestle them on to her and carry her kicking and screaming to board our next 3 hour flight or come up with something else....... then I looked at Nora and had a moment of mommy brilliance. Because Nora is still fine tuning the whole potty training thing she had a pull-up on, and she had a pair of underwear on as well (she likes wearing them both). So I asked Nora if she would let sissy wear her panties and bless my lucky stars she said yes. So I put Nora's panties on Sophie and then asked Nora if she would trade Sophie pants (I figured Nora wouldn't be able to feel that the pants were wet with the pull-up on). Luckily, again Nora agreed - so we made the switch and raced out to board our flight - and barely made it. Whew. The seond flight went relatively well and we are happy to be here in Idaho & Utah visiting our family and friends!
