Pick Your Battles

I stopped fighting the clothing battle with my girls loooong ago. I remember when they were babies and I could dress them up in whatever cute and matchy outfit I wanted. Both of them developed strong opinions about what they wear at early ages. But hey, I like to let them express themselves creatively....... okay, I am just happy they can do it themselves! And they are simply adorable no matter what they are wearing! Here is a list of their opinions right now, I thought it would be fun to look back on:
Sophie - insists upon a skirt if at all possible, with the cold winter here she willl wear pants to school. But they CANNOT be AT ALL tight. I bought several pairs of cute jeans for her at the beginning of the school year and they are ALL in her drawer, unworn. She wears what we call "comfy pants" (sweat pants or yoga-ish pants) and I'm thankful for that! She is also very picky about the fabric of her tops (can't be too itchy!), any type of elastic around the sleeves, neck or waist (can't be tight!) and any embroidery or design on the shirt can't be felt on the inside (again -too itchy!) Needless to say I rarely buy her stuff unless she tries it on! The instant (like the same time as her coat and shoes!) she walks in the door from school her pants are off and she is in a skirt!
Nora - not as picky as Sophie but she has a few things that she loves and will get upset if they are not available. She would be happy to stay in her footy pajamas all day long.... and sometimes she does! She loves to wear anything purple and if I want her in something else I have to convince her (like, "Oh - I bet Naunie would LOVE this shirt", or ,"I can't wait to see what daddy thinks of these really cool pants!")

I love these two silly girls! They make our home light up.

Busy little man

Miles has been learning the tricks of becoming a real boy. He loves getting into mischief and knows just when he's doing it. No cabinet, basket, drawer, or shelf that is within reach is safe from his little hands. He has this amazing sixth sense for when the bathroom door gets left open and makes a bee line for the toothpaste or the plunger. I forget how busy babies are at this age!

But with a smile like this he knows he can get away with just about anything! I love my boy.

Fun to do....

One of our favorite winter activities is to spray the snow with colored water. I fill a squirt bottle with water tinted with food coloring and the kids have a blast spraying it onto the snow! But beware, those bottles empty quickly!!

Visitors!

Brian's parents and two of his brothers were able to come out for a visit this past week. It was so wonderful to have family here! We had a great time together hanging out, making chocolates, eating at Max & Erma's, and just being together. The girls were so excited for grandma to do ballet with them and to get ice cream with grandpa.

Patrick Anson and Miles Anson - buddies from the start!

I got to hang out with these two for most of the day Thursday and Friday (with Nora and Miles) while Brian's parents went to Chicago to see Wicked! and Brian was up at school. We had a great time.

All of us! Look closely at Sophie.... she was pretty sad, but trying to be happy!
We had some pretty good snow falling down and Paul took it upon himself to get our driveway shoveled - in shorts of course :)
