Boys....

So cute already.

Even though I thought this little baby was a boy, I still found myself a bit overwhelmed at the thought of having 3 boys. And I've wondered why I feel that way because it's not like our two girls have been easier than our two boys. Each child is unique and has their own personality and they each have easy qualities and harder ones, and as they grow they go through easier phases and harder ones - boy or girl.  As I've pondered over it I have finally come to the conclusion that - I am a girl! Haha! Yes, I've always known that of course, but raising girls is less daunting to me because I am one! I want so badly for my three boys to be just like their dad, but I feel unprepared to know how to make that happen. I am well acquainted with "little" boys; the wrestling, the fighting, the racing, the cars, the trains, the superheroes, the potty training, the legos, etc. But how do I teach these three boys to honor their priesthood & womanhood, to have a desire to go on a mission, to put the Lord first in their lives, to live worthily and avoid temptation, etc. After fretting over this a bit I reminded myself that these three boys have an amazing father! Phew! I am not doing this alone. And we're not doing it all at once, or all alone either. We have the Lord and the gospel in our lives to guide us. We just keep dong what we are doing, one day at a time! So now that I've worked this out I can focus on being excited to meet this new little guy.

(And find the perfect name for him)

Sick Boys

Yesterday I thought Wes was on the mend. His 102.7 fever had broken and he actually had a desire to eat something. Last night about 9 he started crying that his right ear hurt. And he didn't stop crying until midnight. Poor baby! He kept crying and saying, "Mommy!" and "Daddy!" in such a sad voice. It broke my heart that I couldn't help him. Brian and I gave him some motrin, we held a warm rice pack on his ear and put a drop of warmed olive oil inside his ear and he was able to finally fall asleep. Once he fell asleep Miles woke up crying and he had a 102.7 fever and chills. I gave him some medicine and laid with him until 2ish when he was finally able to sleep again. Then Wesley started coughing so I moved the humidifier down in the office with him and finally went to sleep around 3. Then Brian was in with Wesley from 3 on. Long nights are tough as parents, but when your kids are sick and they need you it isn't quite as hard.
Today Miles has had a fever and cough. I took them to the doctor and got Wesley some antibiotics for an ear infection. Hopefully Miles' won't get to that point. I knew Miles was really feeling crummy when he turned down gatorade and playing on the computer to just lay down with me. Even though he feels sick, it was nice to snuggle my almost 6 year old boy! Here's to hoping these cute boys feel better soon - and the girls can stay healthy!

Size doesn't really matter...

but it's still fun to compare!

Wesley - 6 months
Miles - 15 months

A picture of the boys in the same outfit. And just for the record it is a 6-9 month shirt and 6-12 month pants. I guess that means Miles is more small than Wesley is big! They are both perfect and it all evens out eventually. Sophie was always super tall for her age and now she is about the same as most of the girls in her class. But it makes me smile dressing Wesley in clothes that Miles was running in when he isn't even crawling!

Life with BOYS.

In 5 short years I've gone from being home with two little girls to being home with two little boys. I used to spend lots of my day playing dress-up and princesses and baby dolls. Now it is mostly filled with trains, cars, pirates, dinosaurs and more trains (well occasionally we still play with ponies and princesses!) I just love spending my day with these two sweet little guys. They make every day an adventure. On this day I was trying to get some pictures of Wesley (who only wanted to suck on his chubby little arm) and Miles decided to jump in. I'm so glad he did!

The boys

Wesley is two months old now and getting cuter every day!
See?
Miles is a typical little boy and likes getting into mischief - but lately he's upped his game and been doing things like painting with Desitin, squirting out anything he finds that is squirtable (cleaner, nose spray, etc...) throwing anything and everything and just causing trouble in general. :)
At the park today he took a tumble down some wooden stairs and got a bloody nose and major fat lip. Under his lip is all purple and bloody. Poor little guy!
This last picture just makes me smile. Our nightly routine is Brian reads books to the kids while I sit and fold laundry in their room or hold Wesley if he's awake. Tonight he was taking it easy on Miles' bed. Great times.
