September happenings.

I love September! The weather is beautiful and we spend so much time playing outside. I watched the Roylance kids for a while during September. It was pretty crazy having two extra little ones around during the day and 5 extra kids after school. Luckily they all play so well together. The hardest part was that Ian and Sullivan are just a month apart and Ian was a very clingy baby.

Sweet and feisty Wesley turned 5! He was a little sad his birthday ended up being on a Sunday! But we had fun and partied on Saturday as well, so I think it was worth it.

Brian also has a September birthday! We are pretty blessed to have this awesome guy in our lives.

My home boys

Wesley, Sullivan and I had some fun times just us three. Wesley will start 4k in the fall so I really wanted to make sure I enjoyed being with him all day before the school kids were home again! I love these cute boys.

Wesley's tongue

December

January
February

Back in October when Wesley ran into a wire fence at the orchard his tongue was cut pretty badly. It didn't heal very well because he kept chewing on the piece that was hanging off {shudder}. I took him in to see an Oral surgeon in December after our dentist looked at it. The surgeon said the piece hanging off would possibly need to be cut off and his tongue sewed back up, but that stitches from tongue surgeries often come out because of how strong the tongue is (especially on kids who can't be more careful). He suggested watching it for a few more weeks. So then I took him back in January and I was pretty excited that it had gotten quite a bit smaller. The doctor had scheduled a time at the hospital for Wes to come in but thankfully we didn't need it. Hooray! Now it is almost completely gone, just a very small bump. Pretty amazing. Wesley is happy that he can now eat on both sides of his mouth. And he's probably happy that I will stop saying, "Wesley, let me see your tongue!"

Sutter's Ridge & poor Wesley

On a gorgeous fall day we went out to Sutter's Ridge farm and had a fabulous time in the beginning.

Wesley really wanted a green pumpkin since green his his favorite color!

Nora wanted the biggest pumpkin she could find. Our rule was everyone had to carry their own and she could barely carry hers.

We did the apple sling shot, which was pretty fun. After this we went to the apple orchard and had just picked about 7 pounds of apples when Wesley was running through the orchard and ran into a wire that was fencing off some trees. It sliced his tongue, cut and bruised his gums and knocked four teeth loose! Wesley freaks out over a hangnail so this was pretty intense. He didn't want to show us and he was bleeding a lot so we hurried and left. It stopped bleeding in the car on the way home so that was a good sign. I was pretty worried about it, but Brian wasn't. I knew that the doctor doesn't do anything for tongues/gums unless it won't stop bleeding and was really severe (I did text my friend who is a doctor just to make sure!) So we took him home and gave him some medicine. He slept pretty bad because every time he swallowed it hurt his tongue. I took him to the dentist a few days later because I noticed his top tooth had shifted a bit. They did x-rays and said his teeth may turn gray but the roots were okay. Now it's been almost a month and his tongue is still not fully healed. There's a piece of it that he keeps accidentally biting so we'll see how long it takes to get better. Poor boy!
The only time I could get a good look was when he was sleeping. This shows a bit how his gums were bruised and torn. I never got a good picture of his tongue though.

He was such a good boy at the dentist!
