Wesley's update!

I finished the other kids updates a while ago and I can't leave our Wesley out - so here it is!
Wesley is unpredictable! He has this amazingly-dreamy-handsome baby face that makes me want to cry every time I look at him it's so darn cute. So when we go places, people want to smile and wave at him or talk to him (they can't resist his adorable-ness either) but you never know how he will react. At times he'll tilt his head to the side and flash his cute dimple and say hi. But more often he will yell, "uuuuuhhhh!" and/or try to scratch their face. You just never know.
Wesley is stubborn! In fact Sophie was thrilled with the news that Wesley has overtaken her previous reign of "most stubborn baby/toddler" known to man in our family!
Wesley is just coming out of a pretty difficult phase! At least I really hope he's just coming out of it - he has been so much better/easier the past week. Here are some samples of what he's been doing the past few months: taking him away from places he loves would be instant tantrum (no matter how many warnings he gets) When leaving the library, parks, the zoo, etc.  it appears I am trying to abduct him with the way he is thrashing about. Wesley hasn't liked to share with other kids and if they look at the thing he is playing with, there will be consequences-  such as scratched faces or pulled hair (so embarrassing) - although it must be noted that if someone asks his permission for something he has, he will give it to them with a smile 90% of the time! He's also been doing lots of face scratching (sad that we ask the kids "who scratched your face, Scooter or Wesley?" - and it's usually Wesley!) and lots of hair pulling. He will grab a hunk of Nora's hair and yank on it with all his might with a huge grin on his face. We are really trying to find a solution to stop this behavior. We've tried time-outs, fake crying, doing the same behavior back to him just enough so it hurts a bit, and lately I've been putting him in his crib when he's mean. Last week he scratched Miles' face and I put him in his crib and told him he needs to be nice. He was laughing and saying "No! Mean!" over and over again. Awesome, right? When we do succeed in getting him to feel bad about his actions he will pat your head and say "worry" (sorry).
Wesley loves his two blankets. When he naps or sleeps he has to have both of his blankets (a stripey one and a puppy one) both tucked over him. And when he wakes up he has to bring them with him.
Wesley is SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! It's really pathetic that he just started sleeping through the night on a regular basis in July! I know some of that is my own fault. Mostly our babies don't sleep through the night until about 9 months anyway and when Wesley was about that age we were moving/traveling and then we were getting used to a new house and that whole fall/winter after he turned one he was sick so much and then we moved again..... anyway, we are very excited about him sleeping through the night!
Wesley wishes he were an only child. Okay, so I'm joking about this one. But sometimes at night when the other kids are all in bed and Wesley is being an angel because he has us and the house to himself Brian and I joke that he wishes he were an only child. He really does love his brother and sisters very much!
Wesley doesn't like nursery. Wesley has had a very difficult time adjusting to nursery. From day one he would really scream and cry and throw a huge fit when we dropped him off. I walk in the room with him and I feel like everyone is like "Oh great.... why do you guys have to be so darn active!" :) Wesley starts crying during the closing prayer in Sacrament meeting because he knows he is about to head to nursery!
Wesley LOVES cars!! Much to his big brothers delight, Wesley loves playing cars and monster trucks! I love seeing my two boys starting to actually play well together. Priceless. Wesley is often carrying cars with him. It's usually Mater, who he calls "Dadgum", a car that he calls "vroom vroom" or a truck.
Wesley is a good snuggler.  Holding Wesley in the morning or after a nap is one of my favorite things. He loves to snuggle in with his binky and blankies.
Wesley loves Diego and Blue's Clue's.  We have netflix, so Wesley knows he can watch Diego or Blue's Clue's anytime (well, anytime we let him). He loves to say "Yiego" and "Coos Coos".
Wesley loves Scooter. And Scooter loves Wesley! Scooter will let us know when Wesley wakes up, he starts barking the second he hears Wesley cry. He runs upstairs with me to get Wesley and Scooter has to give him puppy loves before he'll calm down. It's pretty cute.
Wesley loves animals.  Real ones, or pictures. He has an impressive amount of animal sounds in his vocabulary.
Wesley is talking. In the last month Wesley has really started talking a lot. He can say anything we tell him to and will often string three words together, such as "dis Miles car" or, "mine monter tuck" or "daddy not home" or "no night night!"  or "I do it", or "where mine tuck?" or "where mine vroom vroom?" or "dat mine pot" (that's my spot). I love his cute little voice!
Wesley loves taking walks.  He often goes to the door and points at the stroller and says, "walk!"
Wesley loves to color.  This is fun because it keeps him easily entertained and Miles doesn't like to color very much so it's nice to have something Wesley to do on his own.
Wesley is a screamer. In the car. In the house. At church. Everywhere. It is piercing and painful and I'm not sure how to get him to stop. We all cover our ears and say "owie" when he does it, but so far it hasn't really helped.
Wesley has sharp teeth. It's true! He has probably had close to 10 people comment on his super sharp eye teeth. Not good considering he is a biter...
Wesley loves his binky. And I love it, too! He is pretty good to give it to me when I ask him for it and soon I hope to get him having it only during sleep time. Soon. But until the screaming can get under control I will continue to stifle the screams with the binky. :)
Wesley loves books. Mostly books with flaps or things like that, or with animals, trucks or cars.
Wesley likes to do things by himself. You know they type. I must walk everywhere. I must buckle my own car seat. I must put on my own shoes, I must pour my own milk, etc.
Wesley is like a boa constrictor.  At least he feels like one! He gives very tight hugs and squeezes.
Wesley loves to bath. He loves being in the bath, or bathing his toys (even bathing them in milk or yogurt!) BUT he does NOT like to be washed.
Wesley despises getting his teeth brushed. We must have used a not so soft toothbrush one time because Wesley is a bear when it is time to brush his teeth. It usually takes both Brian and I to do it, or I have to hold him on my lap and pin his body down with one leg and his arms with one hand, and hold his head still with my arm and brush with the other hand, with him thrashing and screaming. Of course we've tried other ways and sometimes they work. Tickling him sometimes works or letting him do it first and then us doing it. But he really, truly hates it. And it's not because we hardly ever do it either. We brush his teeth regularly so you'd think he'd be used to it by now!
Wesley does the pass- out thing. Not nearly as bad as Nora did, but if he cries too hard he will occasionally pass out. The annoying thing is that while Nora passed out from crying when she was hurt, Wesley passes out from crying because he's mad. He's passed out while I was brushing his teeth and while I was washing his hair in the tub. Seriously? Seriously.

We sure love our Wesley and his big personality! I absolutely love being his mama. He brings smiles to all our faces a hundred times a day. We love this boy, and if you read this super long post - surely you must love him too!

He looks like a little model in the pic at the top! So handsome :) It makes it a little easier to deal with the hard stuff when they are so darn cute and like to snuggle. Hopefully someday we will get to meet the little guy :)

Mr. Dreamy has quite the attitude going on! But who couldn't resist him! I know for sure I could not. I love how you are always so positive about working things out with your kids. They are some pretty lucky kiddos! Thanks for sharing about this sweetie boy! I love him!
