Between moving in to our house, traveling to Colorado and then having company here we tried to do some other, less grand, things. I'm a big fan of staying home, so besides our weekly outings to the park and library we pretty much hung out at home or had friends over to play. I think we averaged having friends over 2x each week the whole summer. It was a summer full of science experiments and craft projects and lots of fun!
Sophie made some "magic movie blood" and she and her friend Camille had a great time with it.
These are the girls friend, who are also sisters, Camille and Marcella. Camille is in Sophie's class and Marcella is in 1st grade, but she and Nora get along very well so we often get all four of them together to play.
On a trip to the zoo.
At the park. Wesley was hitting all the kids who wanted to go down the tube slide...stinker.
Just some more sewing and science experiments!
One day everyone was SO BORED so I hung up some poster paper and we made a "masterpiece" and even Scooter got in on this project, thanks to Sophie's help. Nora's look says it all.
Just resting with Scooter.
Scooter can really jump so we were teaching him to jump over the kids.
Nora practicing her tree routine.
One night Brian and I thought all the kids were fast asleep until we heard a sliiiiiiide-thump. Just Miles coming down on his mattress, no biggie. Fun and cute, but definitely not sleeping.
Daddy and Wes mowing the lawn.
A bad bump Miles got from trying to jump from the cocoa table to the chair and somehow landed on the floor right on his forehead. Ouch!
On pioneer day the girls were very excited to do some "pioneer things". I found a list Sophie made that said; Pioneer things to do: wake up early, no breakfast, bandage feet, stand in ice water, churn butter, bake bread, skilly for lunch, pee behind a tree. The funniest part was all of these items were checked off. Not sure where I was on that last one! :)
The girls had a "spa" day and washed and styled each others hair and painted nails and stuff. Then they chalked Miles' hair a nice orange color.
Wesley likes "bathing" his cars in yogurt. Then he is upset when they aren't clean.
We had fun one night getting action shots of us jumping on the deck. I love the one of Brian! Of course I chose not to put any of myself on here, that would be too embarrassing! :)
The last weekend of the summer we camped in our backyard and did s'mores on the grill. We all hung out in the tent for a while and then Brian slept in the tent with the three big kids and Wes, Scooter and I slept inside. A great way to end a great summer!

Oh my gosh your summer looks awesome! Definitely need to steal some ideas from you.
Brian's action shot was awesome! And I almost died of laughter when I read Sophie's pioneer to-do list! She would have made a great pioneer!
Thanks for the updates. It looks like lots of fun. See you in a few weeks.
