I've been telling Nora for a few months that once she turns 3 years old the Binky Fairy comes and takes her binky away while she is sleeping and leaves her a present. The night before her birthday she woke up twice in the night crying for her bink - so we were slightly worried! On the night of her birthday we let her have it to go to sleep and then gathered all of the binkies in the house and put them away. The binky fairy left her a snuggly hello kitty doll and a note that said, "Dear Nora, now that you are three years old you are a big girl so I came and took all your binkies. I hope this doll will help you feel happy when you are sad. I am so proud of you for being such a big girl. Love, the Binky Fairy!" She was pretty excited about her doll and didn't mention the bink all day. The binky fairy was also kind enough to leave Sophie some headbands and a note that said, "Dear Sophie, you are such a good sister to Nora so I wanted to leave you a little present. Maybe you can help her be happy when she is sad that her binkies are gone. PS. I will let the tooth fairy know that your teeth are starting to get loose! Love, the Binky Fairy!" (Sophie has been telling me that her tooth feels loose but I think it is just because her friend has already lost 2 teeth!) To our utter surprise and amazement Nora has had no problems going to bed the last two nights without her binky! I think it really helped that it was the Binky Fairy who was taking them away and not mommy or daddy. Now that she is potty trained and binky-less she seems so much older. And although it's been rough getting her to give it up I have to say it was well worth it! We've enjoyed many quiet car rides, ended many fits, soothed many owies and had virtually no problems putting Nora to bed for the past three years all because of the binky! I had to post one last picture of Nora and her bink....

Good job, Nora! What a big girl! Hopefully in a few months Kirsten will be potty trained and go to bed without a sippy cup...we'll see how soon that will happen!
Hooray Nora! What a big girl. You & Sophie are pretty lucky to get letters from the the binky fairy. I bet the doll she left you is pretty neat. Love you.
So exciting! Way to go. I am not sure if I should be more excited for her accomplishments or for your genius parenting. Nice job!
What a cutie! Wow, you have sure been working hard at your house. Lots of accomplishments and challenging ones at that!
I guess even a three year old has to grow up! It is so funny to see her pop her ears! Does she still do that? So happy she is okay about the binky! Hope it stays that way! She is getting so grown up! Just wait til Soph goes to school and she is the big sister at home! Wow time flies! Love you all!
Wow, you're an inspiration! I suppose we'll have to do something about Bauer's binky since he's going to be three in less than a month!
What a big girl you are Nora!!
Tucker and Truman are excited the Binkey Fairy came to your house, and like Soph, can't wait until the tooth fairy visits ours!
Love you guys!
ps-love your new pics on the side. So grown up!
I am glad that it has gone so smoothly...I'll have to use that "binky fairy" when Ainsley comes of age.
Way to go Nora! You have had a busy month!! We were so sad we missed the birthday party, we hope you had a great day. Sounds like the "binky fairy" worked wonders...what crafty parents!!
Way to go guys. Like I said, I envy the fact that she had a binkie for all those tantrums, extremely tired, etc moments, Camden could definitely have used one. What a big girl Nora. I love the binky fairy. I will have to keep that in mind if I ever have a girl that is, for a boy I might have to think of something other than a fairy though. I LOVE the pic of Nora on the right side. WOW!!!!!!! she looks SO grown up! Crazy!
Wow, what a great idea! When that time comes for Kameron I'll be asking you for advice:)
Congrats! That is no easy feat & I'm glad she reacted so well!
WOW!!! I wish the Binky Fairy would have been around when Colton was a baby (good thinking). We injected his with vinegar. He just thought all his went rotten. Your way was a much kinder way. I will have to remember that for the grand children.....hmmm>>>>>Still a few years down the road!
