Graduation!!

Brian graduated from MSU on May 6th! It was pretty great. Even though he has about another month to wrap up the dissertation we still took the opportunity to celebrate being done with teaching classes and taking classes at MSU.
This is in front of his building on campus.
The girls walking with dad to the 1st part of graduation.
Here he is sitting with Dr. Leahy - his mentor, advisor and friend. Dr. Leahy is a "big wig" in the world of rehabilitation and from day one - which was Brian's interview with him when he was applying to come to MSU- he has shown so much confidence in Brian. He has put a lot of trust in Brian's abilities and counted on Brian to pull a pretty heavy load here. And apparently Brian didn't let him down!
At the first graduation there was someone kind of presenting each doctoral candidate. Dr. Leahy presented Brian and I will forever be kicking myself for not bringing the video camera! I didn't realize it would be a personalized thing. Dr. Leahy stood up and presented Brian and mentioned how he has done all of this with four kids and how he got the biggest job in the nation (in their field) at Wisconsin-Madison. When he said "Wisconsin-Madison" - I kid you not - the entire room went, "ooohh!" It was pretty awesome.

When the kids first saw Brian in his graduation attire they started laughing hysterically. They thought his "dress" was hilarious and his hat, too. They immediately dubbed him - "Princess Squarehead".

This is the main graduation ceremony in the basketball stadium. It was huge and all the people there were getting their masters or doctorate degrees.
A lady Brian works with told us the other day that Brian has such good boundaries when it comes to work/school. And that is seriously how we have survived for all these years of school. He works hard at school and when he comes home I know he will actually be home. I'm so grateful for this. Hooray for graduating!
