October highlights.

October was a good month!
Naunie and Grandpa came for a visit!

Sophie had Cross Country

The girls ran a 5k and did awesome. Sophie's time was over 27 minutes and Nora's just over 28.

A quick family picture while out taking the Schaefer family pictures.
Sullivan fell at the Schaefer's and hit their barstool right between the eyes. We took him in for his first stitches. Poor baby!

We spent lots of time at the park!

Sully started being a major daddy's boy. He was only happy if daddy was holding him and didn't want anyone else getting too close! Funny boy.
We had a Hogwarts Halloween!
Luna Lovegood
Nymphadora Tonks

Harry Potter
Draco Malfoy

Halloween Festivities!!

We had a great time celebrating Halloween this year! Wesley got lucky and had a lot of great costumes given to him. He had Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Superman and Ironman. He wore at least one or two of them every day! On Halloween night he was Ironman but it was dark and raining so I didn't get a picture. He wore this Buzz one a lot as well.
Miles really wanted to be Captain America. I didn't want to buy him one. When Wesley got a bunch of costumes given to him none of them fit Miles that well. The day before his school parade I asked Miles what he was going to wear for it and he so sweetly said, "Well. I really, really wanted to be Captain American.... but I guess I'll just be Thomas again." It kind of melted my heart so when we went to the store that night to pick out pumpkins to carve he saw this costume and his eyes lit up. How could I not get it?
Of course Nora was a Care Bear.... what else would she be?
Sophie wanted to be something scary, unique or funny. I didn't want a scary one so she chose to be a One eyed, one horned, flying purple eater!
Our primary was in charge of the Ward Halloween party and I spent the whole day decorating, driving around for things and cooking cake and chili. We had a huge turnout so it was fun.

Classic doughnuts on a string.
This is my friend Charlotte who was Alice in Wonderland. I went as an "Airhead."

I had to document that Brian went in his classic blue suit. And that is my friend Shelley who is the Primary President and lover of Halloween.
Buzz and Woody reunited at our ward party
Last year I started carrying on the tradition my mom started of having my family eat dinner at "The Goblins Platter", I was their host Helga the Horrible. They dined on such delicacies as; mummy brains, goblin snot, ghost pee, fresh earthworms, rotten teeth, etc. The kids love this and I love doing something that I remember loving as a kid! Thanks mom!
We carved pumpkins a few nights before Halloween. It was pretty fun. Sophie just drew hers on and started cutting by herself, she did a grim reaper and tombstones. I helped Nora with a Care Bear belly badge and Miles with Captain America's shield while Brian did a Buzz for Wesley.

Scooter was terrified of the pumpkins. He would not stop barking at them. Brian chased him around the house with a pumpkin for a while and we had a good laugh!

The girls showing off their loot. We only went around our block and it was raining the whole time. Then we came back and watched The Croods. What a fun night! The kids also had a school parade and class parties. A fun filled week...  but I'm kind of glad it's over!

A Happy Halloween!

The kids had such a great time trick-or-treating this year. It was so much fun to watch their excitement. I made Sophie a poodle skirt and she wore that to school and to our ward trunk-or-treat and on Halloween on the way home from school she said, "Mom, how would you feel if I wore a different costume tonight?" I thought it was cute she was worried about hurting my feelings. So she was a Cowgirl and wore my boots, Brian's hat, Miles' plaid shirt and Nora's jean shirt! She looked pretty cute. Nora was a witch - her classic every other year costume. She pulled out this size 2 witch dress, paired it with some pants I cut up for Miles' pirate costume and ta-da, she was happy. Miles was, of course, Thomas. As if there was any other option! I found his costume brand new at the thrift store for 6.99 so that was awesome! Nora painted both her and Miles' faces :) Wesley was a dragon for our ward party and the cutest teddy bear ever on Halloween. Which was fun since he loooves bears right now and does a cute "rarrr" for a bear sound.
We walked around our block and Nora was cracking Brian and I up. She loves candy and she loves dressing up so Halloween was a dream come true for her. She would run from house to house giggling hysterically and kept pointing to all the houses that had porch lights on and saying, "We haven't been to that one!" So fun. And Miles got a Thomas dvd from the person at the first house we stopped at so his expectations were high. His standard saying all night was, "Trick or treat, smell my feet. I love Thomas!" Once Wesley got a piece of candy from someone he insisted on getting some at every house. He would hold out his hand and grunt and lean towards the candy bowl.
Crazy witch.

They got so much candy. I think the funnest part of Halloween is sorting the candy! They ate a few pieces and then I told them we'd buy it from them for 10 cents a piece.

A Happy Halloweek!

We had a fun and busy week of Halloween. The girls had two 1/2 days this week and no school on Friday and a school parade and party on Thursday. Saturday we made yummy doughnuts and that night we went to a Trunk or Treat hosted by some friends in our ward. It was a lot of fun! The kids came home with a ton of candy and we gave them a dime for every piece they were willing to part with (which I passed out in Young Womens on Sunday!) Sophie ended up with $2.50 and Nora $2.00. A good deal all around! Miles has been talking about being a puppy for such a long time that half the time he insists on being called "puppy Miles". A friend of ours gave us Wesley's costume and he made a cute little skeleton. I went as an Oompa Loompa (if you couldn't tell) and Brian was a gas station worker (boring!) I wanted him to be an Oompa Loompa with me but he didn't want to put on the hair and face stuff. And the girls told him he couldn't be "that weird guy again" so....
