Grandparents visit

We all loved having grandparents here to celebrate Miles' baptism day. It was hard to say good-bye!

Mile's baptism

Miles was baptized on February 20th, 2016 by his dad. His good friend Duke Condie was also baptized the same day. It was a wonderful day. We are so proud of our sweet boy Miles for making the choice to follow Christ. We were so lucky that Grandma Phillips and Naunie & Grandpa Dalley were able to come out for this special day!

Nora's Baptism

We were so thankful to have both Grandma Phillips and Naunie and Grandpa John here for Nora's baptism in August. We got home from our 3 week trip late on a Thursday night and had Nora's baptism on Saturday morning. It was a special day for Nora. One that she'd been looking forward to for a very long time! We were proud of the choice she made to be baptized.

Nora and her 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Fiedler. He was an awesome teacher and was always telling us how much he enjoyed having Nora in class and what a great kid she is. Nora was so excited for him to come!

Nora and her friend Alivia. Alivia lives just a block away and these two are such good friends. They are so cute and play so well together. Alivia's mom, dad and brother also came to the baptism.

After a 3 week trip the boys weren't on their best behavior during the baptism. By the end they were out in the hallway with the Grandma's ipads. I had to miss part of the baptism because I was with the boys so I was sad about that (wish I would have just let them use the ipads sooner so I could have stayed at the baptism!) Being a little boy is tough sometimes.

 

Grandpa John sang with Nora at her baptism. They sang the same song that Sophie and Grandpa sang at hers, "Teach me to walk in the Light". It is one of my favorite songs and they did such a beautiful job. What a great memory.

Later that afternoon we were getting ready to go to the park and Nora got very upset because she couldn't find the shoes she wanted to wear. The fit she threw was so, so bad. The reason I post about it is because it's part of our real life and I want to remember everything, not just all the great times. Nora is a sweetheart and a very good girl most of the time. But when she loses her temper it is epic. It is more likely to happen if she is overtired, and it is almost always over something seemingly insignificant (like shoes). And after being on such a long trip and then anticipating her baptism day for so long she just had a complete mental breakdown. It was the kind of fit that just had me speechless. I just wanted to cry for her because she had completely lost control and was so worked up it was sad. It took a few hours for her to come down from this and then as usual, she felt so bad about it. Brian's mom works with people with disabilities and has seen a lot over the years, she reassured me that Nora didn't need a child psychologist but suggested I try to track these episodes and try to figure out what triggers them, etc. Luckily she hasn't had any other tantrums since we've been home (besides smaller, more normal ones) So although the day ended a bit stressfully, it was a wonderful day together with friends from our ward and grandparents. We feel so blessed to have Nora as our daughter. She is tenderhearted, caring, crafty, loving and such a sweetheart.
