Vacation: Back to Colorado

On our way home we went back to my mom and John's house for a day. They were also coming back to Wisconsin with us! We HAD to take grandma to the American Girl store there since she had never been. It was an interesting afternoon.... Nora was upset because she couldn't decide what she wanted to buy with the money she'd saved all year. Her original plan was to buy a look-alike doll just like Sophie did when she turned 8. However we didn't know when we moved to Madison that we'd be living in American Girl central where we could get the dolls much cheaper (thanks to the yearly benefit sale and a good friend who works for them! So Nora was upset because she just didn't know what to do. We were at the end of our trip and she was exhausted and then she forgot to bring her new doll Elizabeth with her to the store. So she grumped and cried the whole time! Grandma bought Sophie some cute shoes for her doll and she bought Nora a watch for hers. Not exactly the experience I had envisioned for grandma's first trip there, but oh well.
During the time we were at the store Brian took the boys to drop off our van for some new tires. It wasn't that far away so they walked back to the mall where we were at. When we came out of the store Brian was there with the boys and Wesley was completely soaked because he'd just fallen in the water fountain at the mall. Of course everything was left in the van (extra clothes, diapers, etc) and we had a two hour wait for the van. We walked over to Costco to eat lunch and kill some time and Nora cheered right up when she found this Saige mini-doll at Costco to buy. Hooray!
It was kind of a long afternoon with tired/grumpy kids and waiting and waiting for our van to get done - which took much longer than 2 hours. It's sure nice to have a grandma around in these kinds of situations! We finally got the van back and went back to Naunie and Grandpa's. What a day.
