Summer happenings...

Just some pictures of every day life at our house
Wesley and Scooter both ended up in Brian and I's bed one night. They are cute buddies.

We went with some friends to a lovely garden nearby.
We watched a caterpillar make a chrysallis and then turn into a butterfly and fly away - magical!
Brian gave Miles his first piano lesson

I took the kids to the dentist and they were all cavity free, hooray! And even Wesley sat very still and did an awesome job. Last time he would only sit on my lap and was very difficult so this was huge!
Some super hero training in the front yard.

Our community has a big 4th of July festival. We had a fun time with a kids' bike parade, some rides and popsicles.
Nora has one of her top teeth coming in but still has one top baby tooth. She had one pulled when she was three because she fell and killed the tooth. Her top baby tooth is hanging in there pretty good and she won't let me pull it. So she may have one big tooth and one baby tooth for a while!
I love when the kids play games together.  A current favorite is Apples to Apples Jr.
Some friends of ours recently got a boat so they invited us to go with them and the kids had a blast. Even my cautious boys got in the tube and had a great time!
Wesley still loves to dress up. He likes these black shoes because they are black like Batman and he found these black gloves of Nora's he calls Batman gloves. He makes me smile.
Sophie is playing softball again this summer and having fun. She plays a double header every Tuesday and has practice on Thursday. Her team won their first game this week and they were pretty thrilled about it!
Miles has been reading a ton lately and his favorites are Magic Tree House books or any fact books about animals. He was reading to me about ocean animals and I just love to sit and hear his cute little voice read such big words. He's such a sweet boy.

We've had a pretty good summer so far!

I love the 4th.

We started off our 4th of July celebrations Saturday by going to the local parade. It was as entertaining as usual. And this year they were even passing out candy. I know I've probably said this every year but no one here stands for the flag or puts their hands over their hearts when it goes by... it drives me crazy. So as usual again we were the only group doing that. I have to ask - if anyone reading this went to a fourth of July parade please tell me if people are still standing and putting their hands over their hearts to show respect for the flag. Maybe it is a dying tradition. But I don't think it should be if that is the case.
Here we are after the parade!

Lots and lots of cars to see...
which Miles loved!
Miles also loved the train that was super loud.
One of my personal favorites, and new to the parade this year. Not exactly sure who or what they were representing but they were dancing away having a great time, I may join them next year.
Most of the kids watching the parade.

Saturday night we had a BBQ in our backyard that was a lot of fun. Lots of people, good food and fun times! We played volleyball (at least the husbands did) and chatted and tie-dyed shirts. We even had a few fireworks that the older boys had a great time setting off.
Four cute girls!
Have I said how much I love having a daughter as my oldest child? Sophie is such a little mother. She loves taking care of babies and little kids and it is awesome!
Miles loved the sparklers, until he grabbed one that was hot and got a burn on his hand. I didn't get a ton of pictures of the festivities but we had a great weekend.
