Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween, our neighborhood is perfect for trick-or-treating! The kids were pretty excited about dressing up. Sophie was Sacajawea after briefly considering being a hula dancer. I made her costume without a pattern and it turned out pretty cute.
Nora was Rapunzel and really wanted this long hair thing. Since we already had the dress we got it for her. She was also pretty excited to put on  make-up!
Miles was Thomas... again! He had wanted to be Batman, but then decided to stick with Thomas (maybe with some encouragement from daddy). Which was nice since we already had this costume as well from last year!
We got to pick Wesley's costume so we decided he should be Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes. Scooter was supposed to be Hobbes but in the end I didn't paint him like I'd planned because I didn't want to bath him after! Brian and I were Calvin's parents :)  Wesley started feeling sick this day and you can tell by looking at his eyes that he doesn't feel so great. And he's had a cold since then. Not too bad of one,  but he hates sneezing and having a runny nose so every night he has waken up about 3 crying, "Me neeze!" (me sneezed) with snot all over his face. Yuck. And then he hasn't gone back to bed very well. Today he slept in until 6:30 so we're hoping that is over!
Before Trick-or-Treating we had a Halloween dinner. My mom did this when I was growing up and I loved it,   so I got my act together this year and started the tradition. So Brian took the kids out on a quick errand and when they got back I had a restaurant called "The Goblins Platter" ready for them. I was their waitress and seated them all and lit candles and handed them their menu's. There are 4 courses and a list of menu items. They choose 2 menu items for each course and I serve them all one course at a time. The menu items were things like: Vampire's tongue, Witches warts, Mummy wrap, Frankenstein limbs, Bat wings, etc. so they don't know what they are going to be eating until they get it. The kids loved it so much, I'm sure I'll be doing it every year now! Thanks mom!

They ended calling me the crazy lady waitress. And yesterday Miles told me the outfit I was wearing should be the one I wear next year when I'm the crazy lady again.... ????
We had a great Halloween as a family. Having kids make everything so darn fun!!

I love the Halloween dinner idea. Some guys did that for a double date back in high school and we were eating enchiladas with spaghetti spoons. It was so much fun! Thank you for reminding me and inspiring me. You are amazing.
